The Role:
ABHI is seeking to hire a Communications & Events Executive to join the organisation on a permanent contract. Reporting directly to the Director of Communications and working as part of the External Affairs team, you will support the delivery of ABHI’s communications activity and help coordinate our busy events programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional or recent graduate to develop hands-on experience across communications, content creation, marketing, stakeholder engagement and event delivery within a national Trade Association. You will support work that spans both UK and international activities at an important and exciting time of growth for ABHI.
Core Responsibilities:
Communications & Marketing
- Support the Director of Communications in marketing and promoting the work of ABHI.
- Draft, edit and publish content, including website updates, newsletters, member communications, press releases, and marketing collateral.
- Ensure consistent brand style and messaging across all ABHI outputs.
- Assist with planning and scheduling content for ABHI’s social media channels, helping ensure regular and impactful communication.
- Liaise with external partners and suppliers, including designers and printers.
- Support colleagues in the management and communication of ABHI’s industry working groups.
Events & Operations
- Provide administrative and logistical support for ABHI’s events portfolio, including webinars, seminars, roundtables, meetings and conferences.
- Assist with delegate registration, guest list management and event communications.
- Support venue booking, catering, audio-visual arrangements and supplier liaison.
- Help prepare event materials, including agendas, briefing notes, name badges and signage.
- Support virtual event delivery, including webinar setup and moderation.
- Assist with event evaluation, feedback collation and post-event reporting.
General Support
- Provide broader administrative assistance to the External Affairs team as required.
- Represent ABHI professionally when engaging with members and external stakeholders.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in planning discussions.
The Candidate
Essential Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Events Management, Marketing, English or a related discipline would be preferred.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate and engaging content for different audiences.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High attention to detail, including proof-reading and sub-editing.
- Understanding of core marketing and communications principles.
- IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with virtual event platforms (e.g. Teams, Zoom).
- A proactive, positive approach and willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Proven experience in a communications, marketing or events role (internships/placements included).
- Experience writing for online and social media platforms.
- Familiarity with content management systems.
- Experience with media engagement or liaising with journalists.
- Photography, filming or video editing skills.
- Proficiency in basic design or publishing software.
Place of work:
As this role is UK home based it will be essential that you have the ability and motivation to work from home with reduced supervision, but be part of the team. There will be the requirement to attend team meetings, staff meetings, training and events at our London office or at other UK locations. Candidates must therefore be based in the UK and have a reliable home broadband speed and be able to travel to London and live within a reasonable commuting distance. Travel can be expensed as agreed, and all equipment will be provided.
