HealthTech Regulations - Driving Economic Growth and Patient Safety In The UK

Topic : Regulation, Position Papers Type : Briefing

To drive economic growth and ensure the continued supply of innovative HealthTech solutions to NHS patients, the UK must establish a regulatory framework that champions innovation and early patient access. This includes maintaining the indefinite recognition of CE marking, as already afforded to other sectors, to ensure seamless market access and reduce unnecessary duplication for manufacturers. Furthermore, streamlined reliance on approvals from trusted global jurisdictions, such as the US, Australia, and Canada, will not only create efficiencies but also align the UK with international best practices.

In this paper, we outline key recommendations that focus on the need for a responsive, well-resourced regulator that has access to HealthTech expertise at all levels. By implementing these measures, the UK can solidify its position as a global leader in HealthTech innovation while safeguarding improved health outcomes for patients.
