Lord Darzi’s NHS Report Published – HealthTech’s Role in the Path Ahead

Lord Ara Darzi has published his report on the current state of the NHS, which follows his independent investigation commissioned by the Secretary of State.
Over the summer, ABHI had the privilege of contributing to Lord Darzi’s Expert Reference Group, which was convened to provide insight and support for this investigation.
As part of this process, ABHI also submitted evidence to the review, underscoring the crucial role that plays in addressing the significant challenges outlined in the report, including rising waiting lists, declining national health, and the need for a more balanced approach to spending across hospitals and community care.
Whilst the findings highlight serious concerns, the focus must now be on how we address the situation.
HealthTech is pivotal in driving innovation, enhancing productivity, and ultimately supporting the NHS to deliver improved outcomes for patients. The NHS England Innovation Ecosystem Programme, which ABHI is actively contributing to, will be a critical component of the next steps, and we remain committed to working in partnership with both local and national NHS leadership to ensure that technology is central to these solutions.
