ABHI & CPI Deliver The Most Comprehensive SME Study to Date
Topic : News and Press Type : Briefing
As part of a £7million Innovate UK initiative in 2022, ABHI partnered with CPI to support HealthTech SMEs navigate new regulatory arrangements.
Funding was allocated to over 200 SMEs, and as part the Health Technology Regulatory and Innovation Programme, we carried out a series of roundtable events across the UK, surveyed all companies involved in the work, our members, and the wider HealthTech industry. This was designed to inform a landscape report on the state of the UK SME HealthTech community.
The report can now be accessed here.
This represents what we believe to be the largest ever programme of information gathering in the UK for the HealthTech SME community. With over 350 SMEs in the programme itself, and some 18,000 individual responses to survey questions, the report is both comprehensive and evidence-based.
A second output from the project team has also been produced, which lays out a strategic technology roadmap for IVD companies, and is designed to inform future interventions and planning. The UK has an exceptional research base, but to build a genuine and robust IVD ecosystem, whereby SMEs are able to scale-up effectively, infrastructure and funding must follow. The vision outlined in this report is written with these needs in mind.
Both reports were showcased on 11th January 2023 at a launch event in Westminster, hosted by the Office for Life Sciences, and the work has been shared with Innovate UK, government and wider stakeholders, to inform future SME support and policy.
