Early Engagement with New HealthTech Minister

I am delighted to be able to report that within 24 hours of her appointment as Minister for Patient Safety and Life Sciences, I received a call from Baroness Merron committing her support for our sector and acknowledging the role we have to play in delivering economic growth of our country.

That we received a call so early in the Minister’s tenure is recognition of the reputation we have established for being a pragmatic, solutions based organisation, but also one that is an honest and critical friend. The Minister stressed that she needs us to remain candid in our interactions with the multiple government Departments with whom we engage, and be honest about what does and does not work.

I was also taken by her understanding of many of the most pertinent issues we face, including regulation and the suboptimal adoption and spread of HealthTech. This reflects the tremendous job the ABHI team has done on your behalf, across all our functions over a substantial period of time.

More detailed discussions are planned in the months ahead, and for which we will need your engagement and support, but I am confident that we have already made a very good start.
