ABHI Launch Investment in HealthTech Report
ABHI and the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) have led a number of discussions with government and industry stakeholders over the last 12 months, to establish what can be done to encourage investment in the HealthTech sector.
The joint ABHI and BVCA report outlines a number of positive drivers in the UK that should help build and sustain a constructive environment for investment in UK-domiciled SMEs, yet at present there exist significant hurdles to achieving this. We outline recommendations in 4 broad areas where government support can overcome these barriers:
• Financial Market Structure
• Sectoral Issues
• Infrastructure Requirements
• NHS Adoption
Highlighting the UK position against other markets, notably the US, we seek to establish through the proposals a route whereby the UK can develop a unique position and set of competencies that will be a key component to enable SMEs to thrive and in doing so help meet the ambitious Industrial Strategy Challenge to grow significant scale UK domicile companies.
