Design for Life Roadmap Launch: Update for ABHI Members

Over the past two years, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has been working on its 'Design for Life' strategy, a comprehensive 20-year vision is aimed at transitioning our sector towards a circular economy by 2045.

The programme is focused on rethinking how medical products are designed, procured, and processed, with an emphasis on maximising reuse, remanufacture, and recycling. It addresses key challenges to this ambition, including misaligned leadership, insufficient commercial incentives, outdated regulations, and inadequate infrastructure, with a series of proposed actions to overcome these barriers.
